Prompt frameworks
Structure is the difference between a wish and a brief.
A prompt framework is a repeatable set of labeled blocks — context, audience, result, constraints — that turns a loose request into a complete brief. Structured prompts give the model the same background you'd give a colleague, so the first answer lands closer to done. PromptDrawer ships with the frameworks below; pick one in the Prompt Enhancer and fill in its blocks.
| Framework | Expansion | Best use case | Standout feature | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CART | Context · Audience · Result · Tightening | Corporate tasks & project briefs | Focuses on result + explicit constraints | Free |
| CO-STAR | Context · Objective · Style · Tone · Audience · Response | Marketing & stakeholder updates | Splits Style and Tone into distinct controls | Free |
| TCREI | Task · Context · References · Evaluate · Iterate | General-purpose — Google's own method | Built-in evaluate/iterate loop | Free |
| RACE | Role · Action · Context · Expectation | Quick copywriting & work emails | Broadest general-purpose structure | Pro |
| RISEN | Role · Instructions · Steps · End Goal · Narrowing | Multi-step technical/process tasks | Explicit numbered execution steps | Pro |
| CRISPE | Capacity and Role · Insight · Statement · Personality · Experiment | Role-play & personality-driven tasks | Only framework that requests multiple variants | Pro |
| Quick enhance / Concise rewrite / Technical spec / Creative brief / Step-by-step | — | General utility rewrites | No framework structure required | Free |
Framework definitions vary across sources — this is the version PromptDrawer implements.
Which prompting frameworks does PromptDrawer support?
PromptDrawer supports eight prompting structures: CART, CO-STAR, TCREI, RACE, RISEN and CRISPE as structured frameworks, plus utility rewrites (quick enhance, concise rewrite, technical spec, creative brief and step-by-step). CART, CO-STAR, TCREI and the utility rewrites are available on the free tier; RACE, RISEN and CRISPE are Pro-tier frameworks.
